Current wedding photography project

SamTom 212

After a full day at work (balancing a full-time job and wedding photography) I come home to do more work on my clients photos.

I managed to finish Matt & Niks’ last night for their first approval so it’s onto the next lovely couple.

So today I start the process on Tom & Sam’s wedding photos.

I think this one was on the worlds smallest church! I have never been in such an intimately small venue but it made the wedding feel som much more special. I won;t even begin to say how much more hard work it was! The lack of space really causes an issue!

Anyway, I have just filtered through the 1023 photos down to 392. Now I will go through those to work out what needs enhancing, fixing or colour-changing.

Stay tuned for when the photos are published here.

A winter wedding?

Wedding photography in the snow

Thinking of a winter wedding? Well why not?

Weddings in winter ensures that more number of guests would attend your ceremony as more people could attend as they’re not on summer holidays and it’s also just a slower time of year (what better excuse to have a great celebration when the days are dull and short). All the wedding planners, photographers and caterers are easily available due to it being a quieter time of year, unless you go for a Christmas time wedding. You could pick a really cosy reception venue and have a warming winter theme as the table plans/decorations.

The biggest downside is that flowers could be a little expensive during the winter as there are very few seasonal flowers during winters. But if you choose a seasonal flower then it’ll be cheaper for you, trying to get Daisies or a summer flower in November will obviously put the costs up due to the florist having to buy them in on demand.

Now, think of winter and you probably think of “Brrrrrr it’s cold” but try to think of cuddling up with your partner when it’s raining outside. Winter is the most romantic time of the year to exchange your wedding vows. It would be even nicer with snow falling all around you (but the chances are pretty slim) and fireplace adding warmth to your new relationship. A beautifully cosy way to start your new life together.

Your dress can be pretty much the same as a summer outfit, just add a shawl or something to cover the shoulders while travelling in the wedding car for the location change. The dresses may even be cheaper out of season but that of course all depends on your supplier.

If you do get lucky and it starts to snow, grab your photographer (if they’re still there) and run outside to play. You’ll have so much fun and it’ll add a magical touch to your special day. Everyone there will have fond memories of the day it snowed on your wedding…Provided Great Aunt Mildred didn’t slip and break a hip so please be careful!

So a winter wedding…not such a bad idea after all eh?

Matt and Nikita Mantle – their wedding photos

Mantles 151

Such a beautiful and touching wedding. Matt & Nik have had a tough year so this was a very emotional wedding. Spirits were high as they celebrated the start of their married life and it was an honour to share the wedding day with them and capture the it for their memories.

Married at: Castle Church, Stafford

Reception: Stone hotel, Stone. (Stone Hotel link)

I know Matt personally and to see him so happy made it a fantastic day to watch unfold. Nikita looked stunning. The two of them when together just showed that love can make everything right in the world.

Enough now, here’s a sample of the wedding photographs from their special day.

A wedding photo trip down memory lane

Wedding photography in the snow

One of my favourite wedding photosI was clearing up my wedding photo hard drive and got side-tracked looking at some of the old wedding photos.

Like these photos, it was a cold day and had snowed the night before but suddenly it started snowing in the evening and we all went to “play” in the snow. The bride and groom loved it, the guests loved it (especially the kids) and I had brilliant fun capturing photos in the snow (Shivering did cause some blurred shots).

It dawned on me that as a photographer you can forget what happened on a wedding because we’re so busy. We edit the photos, export them, print them and give them to the client and move onto the next wedding.

Now imagine how it must be for the bride and groom. Their day must zoom by in the blink of an eye and apart from a few memories all they have is our wedding photographs.

The clients really rely on us wedding photographers to give them their memories and that’s a great feeling. They trust us, they chose us to share their special day and more importantly, they depend on us to capture their special moments.

It’s a huge honour to be chosen as wedding photographer and something I am proud to do.

Happy wedding anniversary

The Cooks

Content from uptherighttree photography:

Although I just missed the actual date I just wanted to wish Shelley and Ed Cook a very happy anniversary.

They were married Colwick Hall Hotel in Nottingham. A stunning place to take wedding photos. Fantastic grounds to the rear for lovely family photos and then a classic look out the front for dramatic, moody shots.

Everyone had a great time and has to be one of easiest weddings I’ve ever photographed. Everyone was so relaxed from start to finish (even the bride!)

You can view a sample of their portfolio in the photo gallery here

A huge thanks to Shell & Ed for having me as their wedding photographer. It’s always an honour to be chosen as the wedding photographer but when the weddings are like this it makes a real joy.
