The show has started!

The brilliant show began officially tonight but I was there to capture the dress rehearsal yesterday.

The photos are now online to order but think I need to filter it down as there’s over 700 photos that you can order.

The hard sell on wedding photos – not here though

Posted September 29th, 2011 by uptherighttree with No Comments

I was having a browse over a few websites and came across a blog about wedding photography.

The author had written:

If you want to be a wedding photographer it is not just about the photographs, although they do form a very very important part of the service. It is about knowing how to sell, how to act, how to communicate, how to offer outstanding customer service, how to lay out a website, how to get onto Google…

And it amazed me that this person would have this on their customer facing website. A prospective bride or groom doesn’t need to know this, especially that it’s about the selling!

I have never gone for the hard sell before or after a wedding. I like to think that the photos sell themselves to my clients and I don’t need to chase the customer for more money.

Maybe as a business it’s flawed but I would like to think that my client walks away with great photos, great service and I’ll say it again…great photos! They don’t need to know how much work I put in behind the scenes, it doesn’t gain anything for me or them.

Maybe I’m wrong but I just think going for the sell, sell, sell is just not right. Set your packages up correctly (but keeping the need to be flexible) and there’s no need to do the selling.

Rant over, thanks for listening!
